Axa XL has appointed Chris Caponigro as head of reinsurance capital management.

Mr Caponigro, who will be based in the US, will “further expand the product offering and investor base by continuing to develop the team’s infrastructure and strategy”, the group says.

He has more than 20 years’ experience in the (re)insurance industry and was most recently global head of insurance-linked securities at Axis Capital, a global provider of specialty lines insurance and reinsurance.

“We have an existing and established team in this space, and our expertise and offering will be further strengthened by Chris’ appointment,” head of ceded reinsurance Guy Van Hecke said.

“Chris brings a wealth of industry experience, and his technical risk capabilities and financial structuring skill set will be key in achieving our strategic goals.”
