Aon posts lower profits after Spitzer

Aon has noted lower earnings in the December quarter due to the wind-back in its contingent commission earnings and the need to set aside $US50 million for settlements related to the investigations of New York Attorney-General Eliot Spitzer.

The No 2 broker recorded income of $US188 million for the fourth quarter, compared to $US214 million in 2003.
