Aon increases Q3 profit

Global broker Aon’s net income grew to $US256 million ($267 million) in the third quarter, up 25% on the corresponding period last year.

“We are on track for a solid finish to [this calendar year] and continue to strengthen the platform for long-term growth, strong free cashflow generation and increased financial flexibility in 2014,” President and CEO Greg Case said.

Total revenue increased 2% to $US2.8 billion ($2.9 billion), driven by gains in the risk solutions business in the Americas and internationally. These increases were partly offset by a 27% drop in investment income due to lower average interest rates.

International organic revenue from risk solutions grew 2%, driven by growth across emerging markets, New Zealand and Asia, partially offset by a small decline in Australia and Spain.

Reinsurance revenue increased 5%, due partly to treaty and facultative placement growth and a modestly favourable market impact.
