Aon founder Ryan set to retire
Aon Executive Chairman Patrick Ryan will retire on August 1 from the brokerage he founded.
“After 41 years as CEO and three years as Executive Chairman, it is time to retire from active involvement,” he said in a statement last week.
Mr Ryan, 70, says Aon is well positioned for continued growth under President and CEO Greg Case.
Mr Case was appointed CEO in 2005 after Mr Ryan stepped aside to become Executive Chairman.
Established in Chicago in 1964, Aon flourished under Mr Ryan’s direction, growing from a fledgling underwriting agency to what is by many measures the world’s largest insurance and reinsurance intermediary.
