Another leading German company has taken a hit, with Allianz and its core subsidiaries being dropped by ratings agency AM Best from AA++ to A+.

The fall comes in the wake of reports that Allianz faces weak earnings, reduced capitalisation and a depressed financial outlook. But AM Best says that despite the downgrade, Allianz will maintain its “superior business position”, being a market leader in such countries as Germany, France and Italy.
