Americans reject flood insurance

Only 17% of Americans have flood insurance, according to a survey by the Insurance Information Institute (III).

This represents only a three percentage point increase from a year ago, despite widespread flooding in the US, most recently in the Midwest.

III Senior Vice President Jeanne Salvatore says the survey results are worrying. “The results show that although more people are buying flood insurance the percentage is still dangerously low.”
