All down in slowing US market

The US general insurance industry has recorded a 5.4% drop in net income to about $10 billion for the first quarter of the year.

The National Association of Independent Insurers and the Insurance Services Office said the industry made an underwriting loss of about $11 billion, and investments declined 3.8% as well.  The industry’s combined ratio improved to 106.2% in the period.
