AIR unveils new model for cyber risk

Catastrophe modeller AIR Worldwide will launch its probabilistic cyber-risk model on Wednesday.

The model estimates the likelihood, severity and economic and insurance impact of security breaches and cloud service provider downtime.

Details from more than 60,000 cyber incidents worldwide and the cyber-security profiles of at least 100,000 organisations have been calibrated into the model.

“The detail and quality of the data we have has allowed us to apply innovative stochastic and machine learning techniques to create a model that provides granular output,” Assistant VP and Director of Emerging Risk Modelling Scott Stransky said.

AIR will include the model in its Analytics of Risk from Cyber platform.
