AIG faces scrutiny over bonuses, creditors
AIG has deferred paying $US2.4 million ($2.9 million) in bonuses to senior managers as it continues to work through compensation issues with the US Government.
Earlier this month US Government insurance industry watchdog Paul Kanjorski turned up the heat on AIG after it was revealed the company was preparing the bonus payments.
But last week US politicians revealed the insurer had delayed making the payments.
AIG is also facing questions over alleged disparity in the way it treated small and large creditors following its massive US Federal Government bailout.
Congressman Spencer Bachus has requested a hearing into allegations that large US and foreign institutions may have received favourable terms compared to small and regional banks.
