AIG chief battles cancer

AIG CEO Robert Benmosche will remain in the top job at the troubled global insurer, despite battling cancer and undergoing aggressive chemotherapy.

In a statement released in New York late last week, Mr Benmosche says he is “feeling fine” and will continue as normal.

Although he doesn’t yet know his long-term prognosis, he says it will become clearer over the next few months.

“I remain absolutely committed to my job, to AIG, and to all our stakeholders,” he said.

AIG says that in the event Mr Benmosche has to step down, Chairman Steve Miller will take over.
