Acquisitions drive bumper quarter for Gallagher

Arthur J Gallagher has reported revenue of $US1.18 billion ($1.27 billion) for the second quarter, up from $US779.5 million ($837.4 million) in the corresponding period last year.

The global insurance broker’s net earnings grew to $US196.3 million ($210.9 million) from $US146.7 million ($157.6 million).

CEO Patrick Gallagher says the result is “one for the record books”.

He is particularly pleased with the 17 acquisitions closed during the quarter, including OAMPS in Australia and Crombie Lockwood in New Zealand.

The acquisitions added $US497 million ($533.9 million) in annualised revenue and helped Gallagher become the largest broker in New Zealand and enter the top five in Australia.

Revenue in the combined brokerage and risk management segments grew 28% to $US910 million ($977.6 million), with the risk management segment gaining 7.6%.
