Open acquires UK’s So-Sure

Sydney-based insurtech Open is acquiring So-Sure to strengthen its foothold in the UK and provide a range of new mobile and contents products via its embedded insurance platform.

Over the coming months, Open will integrate So-Sure's business “as a catalyst for Open’s growth within the UK market”.

“The acquisition of So-Sure is a key step in our strategy to expand our global footprint and deliver unparalleled insurance experiences, and we’re likely to pursue further acquisitions as a route to enter new markets,” Open CEO Jason Wilby said.

Founded in 2016, So-Sure says its model “makes it easy to claim when our customers need us and rewards them when they don’t”.

“We’ve reinvented insurance to align our interests with yours,” its website says.

“Groups of friends and family connect their policies inside our app. If someone needs to make a claim, we’re there, providing super-fast support, repairs, and replacements. And if no-one claims, our customers can earn up to 80% of their premium back at the end of the year.”
