Matterport says new Axis 3D imaging to speed claims
Spatial data firm Matterport says its new Axis motorised mount easily “turns buildings into data” and can be deployed in the field by insurance adjusters to accurately scan and share detailed 3D images from a smartphone.
Axis captures a 3D “digital twin” of any physical space, allowing remote inspection, tracking, and management with contractors and building specialists anywhere in the world.
“From homes to offices, hotels, rentals, retail locations, even a factory floor, Matterport Axis is the most affordable way to supercharge 3D capture using just the phone in your pocket,” it says.
Axis allows sharing of 3D models with engineers to policyholders, and Nasdaq-listed Matterport says insurance carriers, claims adjusters, restoration companies and property owners – including those impacted by natural disaster -- can create accurate documentation and valuations, cutting costs and closing claims more quickly.
“If a picture is worth a thousand words then Matterport 3D models are worth a hundred thousand pictures,” it says. "Fast and accurate settlements result in lower costs and happier customers that can get their lives back on track to pre-loss condition more quickly.
"Nothing sells your business better than the gold standard of accuracy in claims.”
The images mean all the different stakeholders on a claim have field transparency, and everyone works more accurately, quickly and efficiently. The models use patented computer-vision and artificial intelligence technologies. Via a cloud subscription plan, images are uploaded to process into a navigable 3D model stored in the Matterport cloud.
Claims professionals can then use the immersive 3D models to quickly establish the scope of the loss, it says.
The official Matterport Axis launch date is April 1.
