Building services provider Johns Lyng Group has acquired a stake in insurtech Handdii Holdings to help grow operations in the competitive US market.

Johns Lyng has business partners in five US states and a growing affiliate network nationwide. It acquired Texas-based Steamatic in 2019 and Colorado-based Reconstruction Experts at the end of 2021.

Handdii calls itself a “three-sided marketplace”, connecting customers directly with vetted, highly rated local contractors on behalf of insurance companies.

The new partnership will “effectively double the combined contractor field force, enhancing both parties’ service capabilities”, it says.

Handdii, founded in Australia by insurance veterans Kathryn Wood and Christie Downs, now has a trade network spanning 38 US states.
