Insurtech Australia (IA) will host an industry event on Insurtech and ESG in Sydney on May 17, examining the role the insurance tech sector has to play in environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

IA will partner with Insurtech Gateway Australia and Envest to discuss the current status of ESG, the role of corporations in driving sustainability, and the critical role insurtech can play.

Vellum Australia Managing Partner Binuo Erth, Insurtech Gateway Australia MD Simon O’Dell and Munich Re Senior Manager Climate Risks Tobias Grimm are speakers at the event, to be moderated by IA CEO Simone Dossetor.

Insurtech Gateway Australia says insurtechs are helping to connect risk capital with new and previously uninsurable risks, reducing protection gaps, and providing better early warning systems and natural catastrophe propagation mapping to drive smarter loss prevention and stronger resilience.

“Free-market forces have been ineffective in mitigating the negative outputs of industry. Directors and executive leaders from all industries now join insurance in the fight to remedy this imbalance,” it says.

“Insurtech has a meaningful role to play.”
