Howden, Chubb use insurtech for freight cover 'transformation'
London-based broker Howden and insurer Chubb have partnered with US software firm Redkik with the aim to use insurtech solutions to improve European cargo insurance.
Howden is offering on-demand, per shipment insurance underwritten by Chubb for instant premium quotations at the time of the freight being booked.
After a successful launch in the US last year and increasing availability in Asia and Latin America, the cover has been made available for intermediaries to distribute in Sweden, with plans to launch across Europe shortly after the pilot.
Maryland-based Redkik says there is “no longer a need for annual and complex insurance policies”. It says its embedded integration with licensed cargo insurance providers and marine insurance intermediaries can now offer customised cargo insurance.
CEO and Founder Chris Kalinski says the partnership aims to transform insurance provision for the logistics and transportation industry with a quick, straightforward and compliant digital solution.
