Honey’s Joffe joins DroneShield board

Honey founder Richard Joffe is one of two new independent non-executive directors on DroneShield’s board.

The Sydney-based group provides counter-drone defence solutions, specialising in artificial intelligence and other new technologies.

Mr Joffe launched his insurtech, Honey, in Australia in 2021, backed by RACQ Insurance, and has since expanded its presence in the region through significant partnerships.

He says DroneShield’s recent growth is an encouraging sign for the local tech market.

“Oleg Vornik and the management team have done a fabulous job growing the business from ~$200 [million] to >$1 [billion] market cap over the past year,” Mr Joffe wrote on LinkedIn.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of their journey, and also the tech scene in Australia more broadly as we continue to see such important local companies’ breakthrough onto the global stage.”

DroneShield also named JP Morgan equity capital markets co-head Simone Haslinger to its board alongside Mr Joffe. The pair take up their positions on October 9.
