Honey agrees exclusive smart home sensor deal
Insurtech Honey Insurance will provide new customers with smart home sensors under an agreement with technology firm Notion.
A complimentary Smart Home Sensor Kit valued at $250 will be provided to help proactively reduce loss and Honey customers will also receive 8% off their premiums when the sensors are activated.
Honey aims to shake up the home and contents market with financial backing from its underwriting partner RACQ Insurance. It says it is Australia’s first smart technology insurtech, using Notion’s Smart Sensors as well as satellite data to proactively detect changes to the home – such as a new pool – and automatically adjust a customer’s policy to ensure adequate coverage.
“We are utilising the best technology and services from around the world to provide Australians with better cover that is fast, simple to understand, intuitive to purchase, and designed for how people live today,” Honey Founder and CEO Richard Joffe said.
Notion’s smart home sensors proactively monitor for water leaks, the opening of doors and windows, and temperature changes before significant damages and insurance costs. They can be self-installed in less than 15 minutes.
