Hannover Re has opened its HR Equarium innovation platform to all interested parties to give more insurers direct access to worldwide insurtechs and a large pool of innovations.

Hannover Re Director Claude Chèvre likens HR Equarium to “a dating service for singles” and says it acts as a go-between for insurers and insurtechs.

The platform offers the insurance industry easy access to innovative solutions, bridges the gap between digital innovators and insurers and allows insurtechs to market their solutions worldwide.

"We see ourselves as an innovation catalyst, a partnership-based driving force for innovation,” Mr Chèvre said.

“I am delighted that we are now initiating the next phase of expansion by making the platform openly accessible. Going forward we will continue to evolve it and adjust it to the needs of insurtechs and insurers."

The platform currently offers more than 160 insurtech solutions in areas such as cyber, telematics and parametrics. HR Equarium, launched in 2019, has so far been used by more than 700 Hannover Re clients from over 100 countries.
