Fusion Specialty has appointed Steven Harwood as Managing Partner Mergers and Acquisitions Asia-Pacific. 

He will oversee operations “from New Zealand to India”, says Fusion, which provides tech-driven insurance solutions to SMEs. 

In April, Auckland private equity fund Direct Capital took a minority stake in Pop Group Holdings, which owns Fusion and insurtech io.insure. 

Tokyo-based Mr Harwood has held senior roles at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and Pembroke Managing Agency, and was most recently Volante Transaction Services Asia-Pacific MD. 

“We are confident that his expertise will significantly contribute to our growth in the dynamic mergers and acquisitions insurance sector across the region,” Fusion International CEO Katherine Simmonds said.  

Fusion has offices in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Britain, Germany, Spain and the US. 

“I am keen to leverage my experience to drive Fusion’s success, contribute to the company’s strategic objectives, and further solidify our position as a market leader in the transactional liability insurance sector,” Mr Harwood said.
