Flip, Honey, Butter, Freely make Finder awards shortlist

Insurtechs Butter Insurance, Flip and last year’s winner Honey Insurance have been shortlisted for comparison website Finder’s 2023 Best Insurance Innovation award, while Zurich-backed Freely is in the running for Digital Disruptor of the Year.

Now in its eighth year, the Finder Innovation Awards celebrate businesses that have successfully adapted their offerings to meet the changing needs of Australians. Nearly 200 entries were reviewed by a panel of more than 30 industry experts.

“These are the companies and individuals who exhibit exemplary processes and transformations in optimising the finance, tech, and customer service industries,” Finder says.

Honey rewards customers who activate sensor technology with a lower premium. It gives $250 worth of technology and services to help avoid accidents.

Flip, a wholly owned subsidiary of HCF Life, was launched in 2021 in partnership with BCG Digital Ventures (BCGDV), part of The Boston Consulting Group, with on-demand injury insurance available for as little as $6 a day.

Butter offers subscription cover for nominated possessions like smart phones, ear pods, watches and laptops.

Freely has launched an end-to-end travel insurance and safety app featuring  personalised cover, live updates, easy online payments and round-the-clock support from health, security and travel safety experts.

Winners will be announced later this month.
