FinTech Australia appoints Andrew Porter as CEO

Andrew Porter has been appointed CEO of FinTech Australia after the departure of Rebecca Schot-Guppy in August.

Mr Porter brings over two decades of experience in the financial services sector, including senior roles at global payment fintechs OFX, World First and TransferMate. Ms Schot-Guppy is now IAG Firemark Ventures Director of Investment Leverage & Portfolio Management.

“It is a huge honour to lead and represent one of Australia’s key voices and influencers in the vitally important fintech industry,” Mr Porter said. “I have been given the opportunity to give back to the industry I have loved being a part of from its earliest days, and to help foster its growth at a critically innovative juncture.”

FinTech Australia Chair Simone Joyce says Mr Porter’s long-running expertise in startups, fintech, and cryptocurrency make him an ideal candidate to take up the reins and lead the organisation, which has grown to represent over 420 fintechs in Australia and supports 35 corporate partners.

It collaborates with government on policy matters and hosts The Finnie Awards and Intersekt conference.

The appointment comes as consultation with the government on policy matters regarding new payment technology, cryptocurrency and blockchain innovation steps up.

“FinTech Australia can lead the way in defining fintech as a career path from high school through to tertiary education. This is key to supporting a stronger and more innovative local Fintech industry, which is vital for the growth of the Australian economy,” Mr Porter said.
