Cover Genius passes 25 million policy milestone

Cover Genius has sold more than 25 million insurance policies and expanded its executive team with the appintment of Chief Business Officer Americas Kyle Keogh and the promotion of interim Chief Business Officer EMEA and APAC Barney Pierce.

New York-based Mr Keogh spent over a decade at Google, finishing as MD Automotive,  and has also held senior roles at IBM and in academia. As Chief Business Officer Americas, he will oversee profit and loss, business operations and strategic planning across the North American and Latin American regions.

Sydney-based Mr Pierce will hold the same responsibility across the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He formerly worked at Google for more than 16 years, most recently as Director Marketing Platforms Australia & New Zealand, and has been at Cover Genius since August.

CEO Angus McDonald says digital companies are “increasingly turning their backs” on traditional insurers and tapping insurtechs to protect their customers with embedded solutions.

“Cover Genius is at the forefront of this shift as the only embedded insurtech with global end-to-end capabilities that can bring any solution to market for a partner, regardless of location, language or currency,” he said.

"We look forward to expanding our team to bring the next 14 million customers seamless embedded protection through XCover.”

Co-founded by Chris Bayley – a first employee in Google's Sydney office where he managed the insurance team – and Mr McDonald, Cover Genius is now licensed in more than 60 countries and has been valued as high as $1 billion.
