Cover Genius adds Spirit Airlines to growing XCover client list

Spirit Airlines has agreed to use the Cover Genius distribution platform, XCover, to offer insurance to international travelers.

NYSE-listed Spirit flies to 27 destinations in 14 countries outside the US.

Customers who are non-US and non-Canadian citizens will now have the option to purchase personalised embedded protection, with instant claims payments in any currency or language.

Cover Genius CEO Angus McDonald says many airlines offer customers a one-size-fits-all policy that fails to address different needs.

“We’ve flipped that model on its head by offering customers flexible protection – tailored to their itinerary or destination – backed by real-time data. They also enjoy a frictionless claims experience with instant payments in 90+ currencies,” he said.

Spirit VP Omnichannel Sales Rana Ghosh says partnering with Cover Genius allows it to offer tailored travel protection for any destination.

“We’re committed to providing our guests with the best value in the sky, unbundled fares and customisable travel options,” he said.

Cover Genius, founded in Sydney, also has partnerships with Uber, Booking.com, Ryanair, Turkish Airlines, Descartes ShipRush, Amazon, eBay, Wayfair, Shopee and more.
