Compass IOT makes finals of US pitch contest
Sydney-based Compass IOT has been selected to compete at ITC Vegas in the annual State Farm start-up pitch competition.
The insurtech’s Safepoint platform uses connected vehicle data to identify near-misses on roads. It maps historical incident data and identifies areas where future accidents might happen. Its customers are insurers and governments.
State Farm has selected 10 pitch finalists from “thousands of hopeful applicants”: Compass IOT, Domu, Faura, ForceField, Miss Moneypenny Technologies, Property Lens, RecordLinker, Schaefer City Technologies, Tumbleweed and Yotta Automated Software Solutions.
Each will have five minutes to present at the US tech conference, followed by five minutes of questions, with the top pitch selected via an audience vote.
The winning start-up can then present on the ITC Vegas main stage and wins a kiosk at next year’s conference.
Compass maps millions of vehicle trips each day and has connected data across virtually every road in Australia.
“The billions of connected vehicle data points are used by government and private organisations to improve road safety, infrastructure, and city planning across Australia,” it says.
ITC Vegas will be held from October 15-17.
