The focus is shifting to life insurance this afternoon. Clearview MD Simon Swanson says the royal commission made it clear that the life insurance industry "must do better" and he regrets the mistakes made by Clearview's now closed direct business.

All customers have been remediated, he says.

"We no longer do any outbound telephone sales. We concur with the royal commission that outbound telephone sales should not be allowed. Sales for a sophisticated product are too difficult to do over the phone. We only operate through financial planners."

Mr Swanson confirmed Clearview's life insurance products cover COVID-19 and all pandemics, and there are no pandemic exclusions. He says 250 people have been granted a three-month premium waiver after losing employment.
