Youi chief joins ICA board

Nathaniel Simpson has joined the Insurance Council of Australia board as a non-executive director, replacing Chubb’s Peter Kelaher.

Mr Simpson has been Youi CEO since the middle of last year, when he took over from Hugo Schreuder, who was on the ICA board from December 2022 to May 2023.

Youi is a “strong advocate for consumer-centric practice and fair competition”, Mr Simpson says, adding he looks forward to working with the ICA board in “driving positive change and better outcomes for consumers across Australia”.

Mr Simpson has worked at Youi and its South African parent Outsurance Group for more than 18 years. He recently co-chaired the ICA’s study tour to the US.

“Nat has a breadth of knowledge and experience of the insurance industry and I am pleased to welcome him to the board,” ICA president and IAG CEO Nick Hawkins said.

Mr Hawkins also thanked Mr Kelaher – recently promoted to be Chubb’s president of continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa – for three years of service on the board.

“Peter’s two decades of industry experience has been of great benefit to the board and we wish him all the best in his new role,” he said.

Also on the ICA board are Tracey Bryan, Justin Delaney, Paul Fahey, Richard Feledy, Natasha Fenech, Andrew Hall, Scott Hawkins, Sue Houghton, Steve Johnston, Ram Kangatharan and Tara Page.
