Top insurtechs to compete at pitchLIVE in February

The best insurtech players from Australia and New Zealand will be recognised at a pitch event hosted by Insurtech Australia next month.

To be held at the insurtechLIVE 24 conference in Sydney on February 13, the pitchLIVE event will recognise new technologies and their contribution in transforming insurance.

The winner will receive a customised mentoring program and join an Insurtech Australia delegation to Europe in March, ITC Asia in June, or ITC Vegas in October. Judges include QBE Ventures Global Head of Emerging Technology Alex Taylor and last year's winner, Sync Tech Founder Carolina Dreifuss.

Applications will be accepted until Monday and pitch finalists selected a week later.

Participants must be headquartered in Australia or New Zealand, a start-up that solves challenges faced in/by the insurance industry, and have operated for less than five years, and/or have less than 30 employees and/or have seed funding.

InsurtechLIVE will also feature expert panelists who will discuss how insurtech can become a “climate gamechanger”, help address a changing risk environment and insurers stay relevant.

Insurtech UK CEO Melissa Collett will give insights on innovation from the global insurance market, while EY Partner Portia Cerny will moderate a panel on how insurers and insurtechs take AI from hype to reality. That panel will include Leap Forward CEO Libby Roberts, UNSW Professor Mary Anne Williams and Sydney-based Microsoft GM Digital Natives & Startup Andrew Boyd.

Fair Supply CEO Kimberly Randle will detail how insurers should be managing supply chain risk, while Risk Hub Founder Marc Fabris will moderate a panel discussion focused on the retail life market.

“This event will firmly position Australia on the global insurtech stage. InsurtechLIVE 24 will bring together vision and insights from global and local leaders, spotlighting the insurtech investment environment and the role of technology in enabling insurance innovation,” IA said.

Insurtechs can apply to pitch here while tickets to attend insurtechLIVE, which will take place at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, Pyrmont, from 11am–7pm, can be bought here.
