Tennis star among drawcards as Dive In returns
Registration for Dive In events next month is now open, with the program including presentations from former tennis star Jelena Dokic and the director of TV show You Can’t Ask That.
Australia and New Zealand will host 11 events during the insurance industry’s diversity festival, conceived by Inclusion@Lloyd’s.
This year’s theme, as the festival marks its 10th anniversary, is A Sustainable Future: The Next 10 Years.
The 130 events across 48 countries will explore neurodiversity, ageism, gender equality, the impact of AI, sustainability, mental health and social mobility. International speakers include British Olympic cycling champion Laura Kenny.
Here are the 11 local events:
September 24
Auckland/hybrid. Understanding her needs: what the insurance industry must know about women. Hosted by Marsh McLennan, AIG and Wotton + Kearney. Gender equity strategist Angela Meyer will explore social mobility and women’s financial wellbeing, and how to prevent a future where women retire into poverty.
Virtual. Turning words into actions: bringing big ideas to life. Hosted by DUAL, this session will discuss fostering a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities.
Sydney/hybrid. Cultivating inclusive teams: the skills leaders need for the next decade. Hosted by Steadfast. Diversity Council Australia CEO Lisa Annese will examine how leaders can foster diversity.
Sydney/hybrid. Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, Aon and Colin Biggers & Paisley host comedy night Are you ageist? Bias against your future self at Chifley Square.
September 25
Invite only. Inclusive minds: harnessing neurodiversity for workplace success. Hosted by Chubb and DLA Piper, this roundtable will examine how embracing cognitive differences can drive innovation and productivity. Participants will have the chance to interact and explore ideas for championing and enabling inclusive practices.
Virtual. Overcoming the odds: Jelena Dokic’s story of survival. Hosted by QBE. Tennis star and author of Unbreakable Jelena Dokic, who reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon aged just 16, will share her passion for mental health.
September 26
Sydney/hybrid. The gender financial crisis: building a sustainable and equitable future. At the Marsh McLennan Barangaroo office, this DXC and AIG-sponsored event will advise on equitable policies, pay transparency, mentorship and financial literacy, and men’s active support.
Virtual. Invisible disabilities in the workplace. Hosted by NIBA and Gilchrist Connell. Experts from QBE and Steadfast will discuss how to recognise and support invisible disabilities, promoting a more inclusive and supportive work environment.
Sydney/hybrid. Breaking barriers: the role of insurance in financial inclusion and abuse prevention. Allianz Australia and Wotton + Kearney will host a panel exploring the insurance industry’s role in promoting financial inclusion and preventing financial abuse through innovative policies and employment initiatives.
Sydney/hybrid. Unlocking the power of intergenerational inclusion. Munich Re and Kennedy’s will host this session on how to break down barriers and stereotypes and “unlock the power of age diversity in our organisations and beyond”.
Sydney/hybrid. You can’t ask that: a practical guide to overcoming barriers to inclusive conversations. Hosted by the Australian Insurance Law Association, Barry Nilsson and BMS Risk Solutions. TV director Kirk Docker will show how to bring honesty, curiosity and empathy to conversations for better relationships.
