Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has named Kevin Bates as country head for Australia and New Zealand, effective from November 4.

He takes over from Christine Bell, who is retiring after taking up the role in August 2021.

The Swiss Re-owned commercial insurer says Mr Bates will lead a team tasked with implementation of group strategy in the two markets, deepening client relationships and continuing to deliver “differentiated” solutions and services to customers.

“Australia and New Zealand has been a strategic sub-region for us where we have seen consistent growth over the past three years,” Swiss Re Corporate Solutions regional CEO for Asia-Pacific Jonathan Rake said.

“With more than two decades of experience in insurance, risk management, corporate finance and leading diverse teams, Kevin brings with him a strategic mindset and mature leadership style that makes him an exceptional candidate for the role.

“I am confident Kevin will strengthen our ANZ business and bring a fresh perspective to the broader APAC leadership team with his deep knowledge and expertise.”

Mr Bates is currently group head of risk and insurance at Lendlease, according to his LinkedIn. He joined the construction group in 2004 and was appointed to his current role in March 2014.
