Suncorp is searching for a new Chief Information Officer (CIO) to replace Sarah Harland, who is leaving later this month after more than three years in the job.

EGM Digital, Labs and Insurance Technology Darren Abbruzzese will temporarily take on the CIO role until a permanent replacement is found.

Ms Harland was appointed in May 2016, joining from Medibank Private where she was EGM technology and operations.

At Suncorp she led the group’s technology function and her responsibilities included digital enablement, cloud and infrastructure, security services, data and innovation labs.

CEO Steve Johnston says Ms Harland has “made a significant contribution in strengthening Suncorp’s technology and led Suncorp’s digital transformation over the past three years”.

“[She] has also driven the development of Suncorp’s leading [application program interface] layer, which gives the group great flexibility as we adapt to rapidly changing customer and community expectations.”
