Strata broking specialists join forces

Body Corporate Brokers (BCB) and Collective Insurance Brokers (CIB) are combining to create an expanded national business providing insurance services for the strata sector.

“We both see huge development and growth potential, especially for our employees, as we expand our national footprint,” BCB MD Alistair Gibney said today.

The combined business will employ more than 120 people and, through a network of more than 200 strata manager authorised representatives, provide insurance placement and claims services for 30,000 strata schemes.

“Strata is leading the way as an affordable lifestyle choice, and this points to significant strata construction around the country in the coming years,” Mr Gibney said. “BCB is delighted to welcome CIB’s strata managers and customers onboard.

“Together with CIB we will concentrate on helping everyone through the availability and affordability crisis that is currently gripping the strata insurance market.”

Steadfast-owned BCB launched in 1996 and has established offices in Sydney, the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Perth, its LinkedIn page shows.

CIB, based in Sydney, was founded in 2018 by 51% majority shareholders Jason Starr-Thomas and Andrea Agar, with Steadfast holding the balance of shares.

“We believe this partnership will not only enhance our ability to serve our customers but also contribute to our business’ long-term success and sustainability,” Mr Starr-Thomas said.

“Andrea and I will join BCB’s executive team and continue to drive forward the growth and ambitions of CIB, which will maintain the CIB brand and all our existing teams.

“It will bring our customers all the advantages of the combined resources now available.”
