ROLLiN’ policyholders given premium cuts for safe driving

IAG brand ROLLiN’ has launched a new app called Safe ‘n Save that records driving data, then rewards customers achieving good scores with a discount of up to 15% on the next month’s premium.

About 75% of customers using the app in a three-month trial were rewarded with a discount for safe driving, the insurer says. Safe ‘n Save is currently available to business-use insurance customers with plans to extend the offering to all ROLLiN’ customers soon.

“The result is simple – if you’re a safe driver, you get rewarded with a discount on your car insurance premium,” ROLLiN’ EM Brendan Griffiths said. “Through this innovation we are encouraging safe driving as well as helping our customers to save money. It’s a win-win.”

The app uses smartphone GPS, accelerometer and gyroscope to assess acceleration, speeding, braking, taking corners and phone use. The information is then calculated through the app to generate an overall Policy Score after 30-days.

Drivers can track their recent trips, monitor and assess their driving behaviours, and receive a real-time score. The app has already captured over 100,000kms of trips.

IAG launched the flexible pay-by-the-month car insurance brand in 2021 to cater to younger Australians.

It says ROLLiN’ enables car owners to build a bespoke comprehensive motor policy based on individual needs, for example adding multiple drivers and cars under one policy. Customers pay monthly, there are no lock-in contracts or cancellation fees, and no additional excesses based on age.

Mr Griffiths says the brand’s growth doubled last financial year, and monthly customer renewals are at 97%.

“We’ve had a fantastic response to ROLLiN’ in its first two years because of its great cover, customer experience and value for money,” he said.
