NIBA reveals NSW/ACT award winners
Finsura Senior Account Manager Barry Sonter has won the 2023 National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) Broker of the Year award for NSW/ACT, while Network Insurance Group Account Director Joel Morrell has won the region’s Young Broker of the Year award.
Mr Sonter competed against finalists Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers Director ACT Helen Bullock and Quantaco Insurance Brokers Divisional Manager John Kay.
Sponsor QBE’s Australia Pacific MD Business Elliot Hill says he “demonstrated excellent customer service and expertise, and the resulting positive impact on his local community is truly significant”.
Mr Morrell competed against Network Insurance Group Account Manager Grant Zorad and AEI Broking Group Account Manager Jordan Caleo. Sponsor Vero's State Distribution Manager NSW/ACT Yusuf Alexander says he is "a true advocate for his clients”.

In Victoria/Tasmania, Marsh Corporate & Commercial Leader Victoria Nick Hodges won Broker of the Year.
Marsh Principal Corporate Olivia Hancock is that region’s 2023 Young Professional Broker.
Mr Sonter, Mr Hodges and yet-to-be-revealed winners from WA, Queensland, and SA/NT will vie for the national QBE sponsored 2023 Broker of the Year award, while Mr Morrell, Ms Hancock and three other regional winners will compete for the 2023 Vero sponsored Young Broker of the Year award.
The national winning duo will be revealed at the 2023 NIBA Convention at The Star, Gold Coast on October 8-10.

“Every year, these awards give us an opportunity to recognise standout talent who live by and embody the values of professionalism that make our industry proud.”
The award ceremony for WA will be held on Friday, for Queensland on Wednesday next week, and for SA/NT on Friday next week.
