MIGA recruits RAA Insurance CEO for top job
Tom Griffiths has taken over as CEO at Medical Insurance Group Australia (MIGA) as Mandy Anderson departs after 23 years at the insurer.
Mr Griffiths spent 15 years at RAA, finishing as RAA Insurance CEO, based in Adelaide. Tara Page is now Acting CEO RAA Insurance.
“Tom has broad experience in the financial services industry and also within membership organisations,” MIGA Chairman Andrew Pesce said. “He will bring a new perspective to MIGA’s operations and continue our tradition of member and policy holder centric values-based service.”
Mr Griffiths said MIGA had been working in partnership with the Australian medical profession for more than 120 years, providing insurance, medico-legal support and risk education, and it was a “great privilege to lead a team that is so professional and committed to protecting and supporting its members”.
Mr Pesce thanked Ms Anderson for her hard work and leadership over more than two decades and said MIGA’s members and policyholders had “enjoyed security and peace of mind, the benefits of insuring with a stable and financially secure organisation with an excellent reputation for quality service and personal advice”.
Ms Anderson is Chair of the Insurance Council of Australia’s CEO Medical Indemnity Steering Group, which meets quarterly to agree industry positions on medical and professional indemnity insurance matters, and a Director at the Medical Protection Liability Association.
Ms Page, who RAA appointed Chief Governance and Risk Officer last year after she joined as General Counsel in 2017, was formerly Company Secretary for both RAA and RAA Insurance.
Nick Reade remains RAA CEO, a position he has held since August. He was formerly CEO of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet at the SA Government.
