Marsh McLennan appoints AIG’s Ferrier as New Zealand head
AIG executive Toni Ferrier has been appointed Marsh McLennan New Zealand CEO and Marsh New Zealand President, effective from early next year.
“A seasoned industry executive and leader, Toni joins us from her position as CEO of AIG New Zealand,” a Marsh Australia and New Zealand LinkedIn post says today.
“She brings with her 30-plus years’ industry experience, which will drive our continued work supporting clients as they navigate risk unique to the region.”
Ms Ferrier will be based in Auckland and lead group businesses that operate across 11 locations, also working closely with Mercer New Zealand CEO Martin Lewington.
Ms Ferrier has led AIG in the country since 2020 and has been a board member of the Insurance Council of New Zealand and is the current president.
Previously, she has worked as a commercial litigation lawyer in New Zealand and the UK and has held senior roles at businesses including Lumley, Crombie Lockwood and Vero. She is also a former commissioner with the New Zealand Earthquake Commission.
“New Zealand organisations are faced with a wide range of interconnected risks, from rising inflation and declining economic growth, to the impact of climate change and increasingly destructive natural catastrophe events,” Ms Ferrier said.
“I look forward to joining the team to develop strategies that support clients in responding to these challenges, and empower them to succeed.”
Ms Ferrier will take over from Josh Roach, who will become Marsh Pacific President from January, with responsibility for insurance and risk advisory services across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
As New Zealand head, Ms Ferrier will report to Mr Roach and to Marsh McLennan Pacific CEO David Bryant.
“Toni is highly regarded among New Zealand’s business community as a collaborative and inspiring leader, who has a strong track record in creating client-centric services and solutions that deliver tremendous value,” Mr Bryant said.
“I look forward to welcoming her to Marsh McLennan, and providing even greater support to our clients, colleagues, and communities throughout Aotearoa.”
