Marsh appoints Scott Leney to regional role
Marsh Australia CEO Scott Leney will move into the newly created role of Risk Management Leader for the Asia and Pacific regions starting next month.
Mr Leney has led an expanded Australian business since the acquisition of JLT was finalised early last year, while his previous positions have included Marsh Pacific CEO.
“With more than 30 years of industry expertise leading teams and driving successful outcomes for clients across Asia and the Pacific, Scott is the ideal person to fill this role,” Marsh International President Flavio Piccolomini said.
Mr Leney, who will report to Marsh Asia CEO David Jacob and Marsh Pacific CEO Nick Harris, says it’s an opportunity to assist large and complex clients across a broad geography.
“Clients across the region face a rapidly changing risk landscape as well as an increasingly challenging insurance market,” he said.
It is understood the existing Marsh Australia CEO position will not be replaced, but Mr Leney, who will remain Sydney based, will in addition serve in a broader local role across the group.
Mr Leney was also named Country Corporate Officer for Marsh & McLennan in Australia, taking over from Ben Walsh who left the company earlier this year.
In that capacity he will work closely on key client and corporate initiatives with executives in the group’s major broking and consulting businesses, encompassing Marsh, Guy Carpenter, Mercer and Oliver Wyman.
