Marsh acquires WA-based Austral Risk Services

Marsh has acquired WA brokerage Austral Risk Services as part of plans to strengthen its position in the state.

The Stirling-based broker, founded in 1990, has an established footprint in the SME segment, with clients in the labour hire, mining services, transport, manufacturing, agribusiness, retail, and professional services sectors.

Its Transport Insurance Consultants business supports the small charter vehicle industry, and serves more than half of Perth’s taxi and limousine market.

“The addition of Austral Risk Services signals Marsh’s ambitious growth plans in WA,” Marsh Pacific CEO Nick Harris said.

“The firm’s strong client-centric values, which mirror those of Marsh, mean that our combined team will be able to provide even greater support to businesses in WA as they build their resilience to both regional and global challenges.”

All Austral Risk Services employees have joined Marsh following the transaction. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Austral MD Steve Halbert says the combined group builds on a shared commitment to serving clients, finding innovative solutions to the challenges they face, and delivering on promises in a complex global risk environment.

“By joining Marsh, our clients have even more access to world-leading innovative resources and solutions, delivered locally in WA, while our colleagues will benefit in many ways including from new training and development opportunities,” he said.
