Mansfield Awards continue to recognise claims excellence

The industry’s premier claims awards scheme – the Mansfield Awards – will take place again this year, with presentations made via a webinar as a result of COVID-19 social distancing measures.

The awards, named after the English Lord Chief Justice who introduced the concept of utmost good faith to the insurance process in 1766, are organised by Insurance News and LMI Group.

Winners are calculated using official reports and surveys conducted by LMI, with the results “weighted” so all insurers are viewed equally. Companies and individuals are not able to make submissions for an award.

Until May 31, feedback can be provided for a range of claims teams in several different categories by clicking here. Last year more than 2700 brokers gave feedback.

Allianz Australia won last year’s Gold Mansfield Award for excellence in claims-handling, as well as trophies for the SME property and casualty and personal lines categories.

Other finalists for the overall award were FM Global, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) and TravelCard.

BHSI and FM Global were joint winners of corporate property and casualty, while TravelCard took out the specialty section.

This year’s webinar presentation will take place on July 23.

“While this year’s Mansfields Awards can’t be a live networking event, we’re still determined to recognise and celebrate claims excellence,” Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan said.

“The claims process is at the heart of our industry, and because the Mansfield Awards are judged solely on performance rather than submissions, they give all companies an annual benchmark they can aspire to.

“Responding to this survey only takes a few minutes, but each response is invaluable in supporting the data we secure from other sources.”
