Mansfield Awards: brokers name their claims picks

More than 2700 brokers have supplied feedback to organisers of the third annual Mansfield Awards for Claims Excellence.

The winners will be announced at a function in Sydney on July 25. Tickets to the event are available at mansfieldawards.com.

Organised on a non-profit basis by Insurance News and claims services company LMI Group, the awards are sponsored by Steadfast and icare, which have supported the event since its inception in 2017.

LMI Executive Chairman Allan Manning, who oversees the collation of data, says this year’s feedback from brokers reveals “some legacy problems, but also outstanding professional work in executing claims”.

“While there is plenty of frustration evident in some classes, it’s heartening to see that some claims specialists are really stepping up to the mark,” he said.

Data supplied by brokers is supplemented by feedback provided via the LMI Claims Comparison website. At present, the results are being “weighted” to ensure fairness when comparing multiline insurers’ performance with that of smaller operations.

The results will then be compared with data from the Australian Financial Complaints Authority and other sources.

Trophies are awarded to the winning companies in personal lines, SME property and casualty, corporate property and casualty, and specialty. The Gold Mansfield Award is presented to the company that scores the highest points overall.

Suncorp CEO Insurance Gary Dransfield will be the guest speaker at this year’s event.

The awards are named after the English Lord Chief Justice who introduced the concept of “utmost good faith” to the insurance industry in 1766.
