'Lasting legacy': Honan founder dies aged 92
Tributes have been paid to the founder of Melbourne-based Honan Insurance Group, who has died aged 92.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Geoffrey Honan – father to Executive Chairman, Damien Honan, and the founder of our great company,” Honan said on LinkedIn today.
“Geoffrey established Honan in 1964 with a clear vision of how individuals should invest in their futures, and how businesses should invest in their people.
“Steadily growing Honan for over 30 years, Geoffrey quickly enlisted the assistance of son Damien, who joined Honan in 1984.
“Together they laid the foundations for Honan becoming the company it is today – a diversified global insurance brokerage delivering exceptional service to its clients, partners and the community, day in, day out."
Honan says its founder's contribution to its business and the broader insurance industry was "exceptional".
"His many legacies will shine bright, including a core value that remains fundamental to our continued success: we see our clients.”
A service to celebrate the life of Mr Honan will take place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 345 Burwood Road, Hawthorn, Melbourne, on May 3 at 2pm.
The service is also being live-streamed here.
