Kuala Lumpur claims convention puts spotlight on technology
Technological change and globalisation will be the focus at this year’s Asian Claims Convention in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The program will examine insurance claim challenges and best practices across the industry, with a focus on Asia. Topics include the impact of the metaverse in insurance, technologies enhancing claims settlements, the surge in lithium-ion batteries and related claims, digitalisation, understanding policy coverage in cyber, and fraud detection.
The Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA) event, themed Technologies Driving Globalisation in Claims, is scheduled for May 8-10 at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel.
Last year’s Asian Claims Convention was in Bangkok, marking a return for the event after a three-year covid hiatus. About 200 delegates attended.
“The convention attracts members and others involved in the claims profession from Asia, Australia, New Zealand and numerous other countries, and is a valuable source of professional development and networking opportunities,” AICLA says.
Delegates include senior insurance company managers, brokers, reinsurers, loss adjusters, consultants, lawyers and service providers.
AICLA says next year’s convention will be at the Hilton Osaka in Japan.
The institute’s events program also includes the Claims Convention in Sydney, held in conjunction with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
“The combined success of [the 2023 conferences in] Bangkok and Sydney stand out as the most successful and well attended educational events in our history,” AICLA President Nicholas Ackers said last year.
