Insurers to meet with Cyclone Seroja claimants
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) and insurers will meet with Cyclone Seroja claimants next week after complaints about delays.
Seroja devastated several WA towns in April, causing $281 million in insured losses, according to the latest ICA figures.
But some policyholders have raised issues with slow claims settlement, and delays to repairs.
ICA says claims managers and assessors will travel to the worst hit towns over four days to meet with insurer customers.
The one-on-one consultations will be held at outdoor venues and will follow COVID-19-safe protocols in Kalbarri, Northampton, Mingenew and Morawa.
ICA also has a virtual one-on-one consultation portal for insurance customers who are unable to attend the consultations next week and need assistance with their claims.
ICA figures show there have been 6751 claims lodged related to Seroja, with 99.67% accepted and more than 46% closed.
