INsight podcast: will floods push mitigation message forwards?

A spiralling flood catastrophe could force governments to listen to insurers' calls for more spending on disaster resilience, the latest Insurance News podcast heard.

As insuranceNEWS.com.au has reported, the east coast event is shaping up as one of Australia's worst flood disasters.

The Insurance Council has published an election platform, calling on politicians to commit to doubling federal spending on disaster resilience, and says recent events show that action is needed now.

This week’s edition of INsight, hosted by Insurance News Managing Director Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex, Deputy Editor Wendy Pugh and Senior Journalist Miranda Maxwell.

The podcast panel also discusses problems with abuse cover for out-of-home care, the latest APRA industry statistics, and a warning from ASIC on the enforcement of design and distribution obligations.
