INsight podcast: simple advice raises questions

The Federal Government’s proposal to allow insurers to provide “simple advice on less complex matters” was the main topic of discussion on the latest edition of the Insurance News podcast.

As previously reported, the Government has provided its response to the Quality of Advice review, but industry groups are awaiting more detail on how the reforms will work in practice.

This week’s edition of INsight, hosted by Insurance News MD Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Managing Editor John Deex, Deputy Editor Wendy Pugh, and Senior Journalist Bernice Han.

The panel also discusses the threat to northern Queensland communities from Cyclone Jasper and submissions made by insurers to the Federal Government parliamentary inquiry into the industry’s response to last year’s floods.

A report on land use planning reforms that could reduce disaster risk and a change in one insurer’s  approach to rideshare vehicles are other topics looked at this week.
