INsight podcast: pool announcement makes waves

The long-expected confirmation of a government cyclone reinsurance pool is the focus of the latest edition of the Insurance News podcast.

INsight, hosted by Insurance News Managing Director Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex, our team of journalists, and occasional guests.

As reported by insuranceNEWS.com.au in a Breaking News bulletin on Tuesday morning, the pool will cover cyclone and associated flood losses north of the Tropic of Capricorn, and will be backed by a $10 billion government guarantee.

The panel discusses, among many other things, the fact that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission spent three years investigating the affordability issue in the north and didn’t recommend a pool – but the Federal Government went ahead anyway.

Other topics include changes to the duty of disclosure coming up on October 5, senior executive changes at Hollard, and Floodmapp’s innovative loss prevention ideas.

You can find a new episode of INsight published here every Wednesday.
