INsight podcast: mainstream media attack falls flat
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) report on claims handling was one of the main topics discussed on the latest edition of the Insurance News podcast.
ASIC has pointed out areas for improvement and, as previously reported, wear and tear exclusions have emerged as a potential problem, as shown by issues around flexihoses.
The panel also looked at shortcomings in the mainstream media’s reporting on the insurance industry and its company executives.
This week’s edition of INsight, hosted by Insurance News MD Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Chairman Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex, Deputy Editor Wendy Pugh, and Senior Journalist Bernice Han.
Also discussed were insurer and broker full-year financial results and a jail sentence handed to a former Cover-More claims officer who admitted to defrauding his employer of more than $220,000.
