INsight podcast: is the hard market getting softer?

The continued slowing down of rate increases in the market is the main topic of discussion in the latest Insurance News podcast.

As insuranceNEWS.com.au has reported, the most recent Marsh commercial index shows prices in the fourth quarter of last year in the Australia-led Pacific market went up by 13%, compared with a 17% rise in the previous quarter.

But the panel talked about the fact that just because price rises are slowing, it doesn't mean that we are going to flip immediately to a soft market. Some industry leaders believe that the insurance cycle as we used to know it is a thing of the past.

This week’s edition of INsight, hosted by Insurance News Managing Director Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex, Deputy Editor Wendy Pugh and Senior Journalist Bernice Han.

The podcast also discusses mainstream media headlines about disgruntled claimants, the latest on the cyclone reinsurance pool, and our brand new section for intermediaries - The Broker.
