INsight podcast: insurer results and pool progress

The impact of natural catastrophes on insurer results and the progress of the cyclone reinsurance pool are the main topics on the latest Insurance News podcast.

Suncorp and IAG were both hit by a spate of storms last year, impacting earnings, while legislation for the pool has been introduced to Parliament.

The bill has been referred to a Senate committee, however, raising concerns that the pool might struggle to be ready for a July start date.

This week’s edition of INsight, hosted by Insurance News Managing Director Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex and Deputy Editor Wendy Pugh.

The podcast also talks about key trends in insurance law last year, the latest on business interruption class actions and test cases, and the case for removing state insurance taxes.
