INsight podcast: industry faces up to hard truths

The global economic environment and what it means for insurers is the focus for the panel on the latest Insurance News podcast.

As reported by insuranceNEWS.com.au, a Swiss Re Sigma study has highlighted the pressure that inflation could put on claims costs, but on the flip side rising interest rates could benefit insurers in the longer term.

The panel also discusses the latest Marsh commercial index, which shows that the hard market is continuing but slowing. In the Australian-dominated Pacific market there have now been five consecutive quarters of slowing increases.

This week’s edition of INsight, hosted by Insurance News Managing Director Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex, and Deputy Editor Wendy Pugh.

The podcast also considers a new covid insurance product, an interesting AFCA ruling, and the latest broker acquisition.
